New week - new start

Karnevaalit ovat takana. Eilen totesin, että onneksi ne ovat vain kerran vuodessa. Iloista päivää ja yötä seuraa monesti väsynyt aamu. Näin myös eilen. 

Carnival is behind. Yesterday I said that, fortunately, it is only once a year. Tired morning follows the happy day and night. Like yesterday.

Helsinki Samba Carnaval 2009

Tulevana viikonloppuna Helsingissä on Sambakarnevaalit, joihin myös sambiclaiset osallistuvat. Luvassa on letkeää menoa, joka jatkuu yhä kulkueen jälkeen Baile do Carnaval-iltajuhlassa. Esiintyjinä ovat mm. Kaoma ja Banda Reggae Papagaio.

Muistatko yhä Kaoman vuosien takaisen hitin Lambadan?

There is Samba Carneval in Helsinki next weekend. Also Sambic group take part in. Joyful and relaxed feelings continues after the parade in Baile do Carnaval evening celebration. Kaoma and Banda Reggae Papagaio belong to the performers, e.g.

Kun kerran vauhtiin päästiin, niin tehdään vielä pieni matka Rodoksen Vanhaan kaupunkiin, tällä kertaa Suurmestarin Palatsiin. 

I'm get going. How about a little tour in the Old Town of Rhodes? Grand Master's Palace, this time. 

Rodoksen ritarit rakensivat palatsin 1300-luvulla. Se on todella käymisen arvoinen paikka, johon kannattaa varata aikaa. Palatsissa on 135 huonetta, joista vain osa tosin on auki yleisölle.

Knight of Rhode built the Palace in the 14th century. It really is worth visiting but take a lot of time. There are about 135 rooms, but only part of them are open to tourists.

Kiinnostuin suuresti ritareista ja ostin museokaupasta itselleni kirjan. Valitettavasti ei ollut vielä suomenkielistä painosta. 

I interested a lot of Knights of Rhodes and that's why I bought this book from the museum shop. They didn't have Finnish edition yet, unfortunately.

Sisareni, joka oli mukana keväisellä Rodoksen matkalla, yllätti minut tänään iloisesti. Sain häneltä Kreikka-ruokakirjan ja pakkohan siitä oli heti kokeilla jotakin ohjetta. Kaapeista löytyi kutakuinkin kaikki tarpeet kreikkalaista makaronilaatikkoa varten. Hyvää! 

My sister, who was also in Rhodes with me this spring, surprised me today. She gave me the book of Greek cuisine and I had to try on one recipe immediately because I had (more or less) all ingredients for Greek macaroni casserole. Good!

Kaikista oleellisimpana pidin ruokaan tulevia mausteita. Minä käytin valmista Mousaka-mausteseosta, jossa on muskottia, oreganoa, kanelia ja mustapippuria. Tuoreita yrttejä olisin kyllä kaivannut.  

I think that spices were the most important thing in the recipe. I used spices mix for Mousaka which consist of nutmeg, oregano, cinnamon and black pepper. Fresh herbs were what I missed.

If you like Creek food have you ever watch the programme My Creek Kitchen? It goes in channel Four on Thursday 14:30 o'clock, rerun on Friday 9:00 o'clock. I usually miss that because of my work but you can also see the program in NetTV.

Fresh colors

Yhä vain on viileää. Lämmittelen ajatuksellä helteisistä kesäpäivistä. 

It's still so chilly. I'm dreaming of the hot summer days and even it makes me feel warmer. 

Raikkaat värit ovat nyt mieleeni.

Fresh colors are also my favor right now.

Vesimelonin sävyt innostivat ostamaan uutta lankaa. Ihanan väristä.

Watermelon's shades inspired me to buy new balls of cotton yarn. Color is wonderful. 

Mitähän tekisin siitä? Yksi ajatus on mielessäni.

What should I make from it? One idea is already in my mind.

Sataa, sataa, ropisee

Mihin kauniit kesäpäivän katosivat? Juuri, kun niihin ennätti tottua, sateet alkoivat. Rakastan toki sadettakin, etenkin syksyllä, mutta kesällä riittäisi vähempikin. 

Where all beautiful summerdays disappear? I just got used to those and rains started. Of course I love rain too, especially in the Autumn, but now less would be good.

Minä ihastuin tämän kirjan kanteen suunnattoman paljon. En voinut olla ostamatta sitä, vaikka en erityisesti muistikirjaa tarvinnutkaan.

I fell in love with this book's cover. I had to bought it although I didn't even need new notebook. 

Viikonloppu lähestyy! Päivät ovat menneet äärimmäisen nopeasti. Tulevana viikonloppuna tapaan vanhan ystävän, piiiitkästä aikaa. Ihanaa! 

Weekend is almost here! Days have gone extremely fast. Long time no see - I'll meet my old friend in upcoming weekend. It's fantastic!

Summer - It's here

Ei voi kuin nauttia kesän ihanuudesta, aurinkoisista päivistä ja lämpimistä illoista. Kaikkialla kukkii ja vihertää. Mieli on kevyt. Sandaalit ja hameet on kaivettu kaapista esiin. 

What a lovely summer, sunny days and warm evenings. It's blooming everywhere.  Mind is lightweight. Sandals and skirts are already searched from the wardrobe. 

Serkkujen valmistujaisia, koiranäyttelyitä, mukavia hetkiä ystävien kanssa, mattojen pesua ja auringonottoa. Mukava viikonloppu.

Cousins graduation, the dog shows, merry moments with friends, washing carpets and taking sunbath. Very nice weekend.

In the balcony

Country Living-lehti antoi kansikuvallaan innoituksen parvekkeen väritykseen. Kukkakaupassa on käyty ja sormet mullassa hääritty. Iltapäiväkahvit nautittiin ulkosalla ja kiireettömyydestä nauttien muotoilin uusia hahmoja massasta. 

Toivottavasti päiväsi on ollut onnistunut!

Country Living Magazine gave me the inspiration for the colors of balcony with it's cover photo. I visited in the flower shop and was pleased to enjoy a cup of coffee in my sunny balcony. Because there wasn't any hurry I made some new characters from the moulding pasta.
